What a year it's been. You don't notice the speeding of time until you realize that nine months have passed since you've enjoyed the holiday season. While many are looking at Halloween decor in early October, I'm scouring my haunts for village items and new ideas. One favorite is Lowe's, believe it or not, and of course Michael's. We went away for the weekend, and I found a new favorite in Fredericksburg, Texas, The Christmas Store. It's like heaven on earth for villagers. I bought the Dept. 56 Gondola, and one set of people for the man walking a wee english bulldog. I exhibited GREAT restraint, as I wanted most of what I saw and my hubby could never say no.

All good things must come to an end.....at least for this year.
The usual three day ordeal of packing away Greenville only took me one day this year. I got up at 5:00 AM with a purpose, and toiled away. The buildings are all tucked into their original boxes, the people, fencing, trees, cars and various props all grouped and stored away for next year. The miles of lighting cords, extension cords, and various behind the scenes gear are tucked away, all in clear plastic boxes that my husband heaves to the garage ceiling until next November. Is it too soon to start planning for next year's village?

Every year, my husband looks at the completed village for the first time, usually at night with all the lights aglow, and proclaims, "This is the best village you've ever done. Don't change a thing." Of course it is, and of course I plan on changing things next year. But I love hearing that comment every year.

Can you hear it? The rustle of drying leaves, the wind in the trees, the birds beginning to prep for Winter's cold. Are you getting the itch, the christmas village fever?
Life has a funny way of getting away from us. It's hard to believe it is that time of year again. The leaves are blowing, the weather is cooling off, and I find myself searching all the usual haughts-past the Halloween and Thanksgiving and straight to the Christmas displays. Thus far, the pickings are very slim. That, or I've gotten really picky this year. Greenville is out of the garage and spread out all over the sunroom. I can't wait to get started. How about you?
